Homemade fly cutter for drill press

Hello.Sometimes there is a need for large holes in the sheet metal. I used to drill in a circle and beat with a hammer, then a long and tedious work with a round file. So I decided to make my life easier by making this wonderful device.

I've seen these type of treppanning cutters called "tank cutters" by the local farmers. Commonly used in slow speed hand drills to cut a hoel in the top of a water tank for fitting inlets, etc.

OK, lets give it, it's correct name -- a Trepanning tool -- it's been around for centuries and used for engineering as well as medical procedures. So what's new about this one ?

trepanning tool is the correct name... I mentioned one of the common names since if I walk into my local tool shop and ask for a trepanning tool I doubt they know the name, but if I ask for a "tank cutter", or "circle cutter", or "washer cutting tool" they will know what I want.

Thank you all. In my language, this tool is called "свердло балеринка", which means "drill ballerina" in English. When searching for Google on various sites, "Sheetmetal Circle Cutter" is also called "fly cutter".

The "свердло балеринка", gets my vote as a drill Ballerina as well When you look at the way a toy mechanical Ballerina does her thousand pirouette spin with one leg extended the resemblance to the cutter is spot on visualize a pair of ice skates on her and Wala the cutter is born. Now I only need to learn the pronunciation of "свердло балеринка",
