    Holy cow

I just took a look outside and there's an inch of snow on the ground and it's still coming down heavily. In 45 years here in Texas I've seen similar maybe a handful of times - "the sky is falling, the sky is falling...".

It's snowing AGAIN at our new house! They normally only get a couple of cm ALL WINTER. They had to pause working on the driveway roof until the snow melts.

That was just a pre-lim as it turned out. Here's Tuesday morning with 5" at 5ºF.

The electric power regulation agency here fell flat on it's face and many, many people were without power for 3 days during the depth of a record setting cold front since the bulk of the power here is generated by natural gas but the lines supplying that gas to the plants weren't tolerant of very cold weather. The much ballyhoo'd wind generation plants in West Texas were all frozen solid too and the green photovoltaic plants of recent fame don't work when it's clouded over or at night when it's really needed. My tax dollars appear to have funded Teslas for the new age dreamers.

Take care, Crusty and others suffering from snow and the cold: power, heat and food outages,
and don't get yourselves into these statistics:
-Ever considered running your generator inside?.

Thanks Jo. I know it mustn't seem like that bad of a storm to you at that latitude but we're geared to cope with hot weather here and everything is made for those predominant conditions so truly cold weather puts us in jeopardy. A man in Abilene froze to death in his recliner at home for instance. It will get warmer than freezing today and that's some welcome relief.
