    So, I build a two story house with no doors on the first floor but one on the second floor and hide a collapsible ladder in the foundation to access it? It's genius! I'm in!

    Apparently, Mrs. Winchester thought that a second story exit door (yes, it opens conventionally) was a good idea but she was a few candles short of a chandelier.

    We used to call those suicide doors. More common than you might think is century plus old homes. And some did indeed open outwards.

    Mrs. Winchester was a few sandwiches short of a picnic for sure.
