    Hi, and thanks

Thanks for this site. It’s become a lot harder for me to find and keep track of interesting and inspiring home made tools and Homemadetools has so many and organizes them pretty nicely.

I finally joined and know that you’ve already linked a couple old projects of mine here. Sorry for being a little late offering my thanks.

As you can see in the attached pictures, both of those now have little companions, too.

Did there used to be a button to request plans? I want one for the little automatic lathe with the slotting attachment that was in one of the recent newsletters!

    Thanks!

The Unimat headstock makes a nice small drill press, especially with a bigger motor but I had to change the way that mounted so wouldn’t interfere with anything. I bought an extra headstock so I can leave this one attached and just transfer the quill, but the headstock casting attaches to the adapter using the standard draw in bolt.

The toolmakers vise is a lot smaller than some of the originals in old Brown & Sharpe catalogs but handy for things I make. It takes the same 1/4” hex handle as my other one.

Here you can see why I made the adapter so it puts the Unimat headstock backwards, which then meant I had to make a new spring cup.

I tried to follow the example of the Unimat by reducing the number of tools needed while setting up the vise.

An interesting adaptation. What is the machine it is mounted on?

    Hi, Dick.,

    Thanks.

Both are on my Atlas horizontal mill in the last pictures. The Unimat adapter clamps onto the overarm, and the smaller rod above that fits mounting hole for the overarm cover and helps getting it closer in alignment.

I drilled a similar hole in the right angle adapter for it that clamps on the column of the 14” bench drill press.
