I am an avid classic car enthusiast and always tinkering on my rides. I have always been a fan of homemade tools.
Oh, that's too bad, I'm more of a trailer queen fan myself.
...just kidding Unless it's a very rare and classic car that should be locked away so people like me can't get their paws on it, I think cars are meant to be, and have always been meant to be, driven and enjoyed. If there's no reasonable hope for a driveable restoration, it can be a candidate for hotrodding.

Hi Oregonite,
Welcome - glad to have you here!
Lots of car guys hereabouts, myself included. I agree completely that cars (and planes, for that matter) are meant to be used. There's little sadder to me than a perfectly restored car/bike/plane that just sits in its garage/hangar/museum gathering dust. Much better to be run and enjoyed, in the process of which it can be shown to the next generation as a living machine in its natural habitat. A Corsair sitting under ⅛" of dust is just depressing. Contrast that with the visceral feeling of standing at the side of a runway while a Corsair rips past at 100' and 300+ knots. Likewise, the feelings evoked by vintage and classic auto racing events. Anyway, I'm with you on the "rock chips" thing…
When you're ready to share some of your own homemade tools, we'd love to see them. Please post them directly in the Homemade Tools subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.
Non-tool items should be shared in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.
