I spent the last 10 years of my working life designing machinery and tooling for a thermoforming equipment manufacturer. Although not an engineer I have many engineering skills, and can design electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Several of my machine designs are still being manufactured.
Seven years ago my wife and I retired to the country and we have spent a lot of time renovating our small country house to meet our needs. That project is now nearing completion and I can get back to woodworking, gardening, and playing bad golf.
I have always been a hands on guy and frequently reuse other peoples junk for purposes the designer would never have thought of. One of my problems is that there are so few places to acquire interesting stuff in rural Nova Scotia and the other is paying for it. No company pensions where I worked.
I have a 1972 Bolens 1886 lawn tractor and a 1998 Mercedes C230 to maintain and have had to machine several parts for the tractor using my cheep Chinese lath/mill combo. My woodwork shop has the usual table saw, band saw, radial arm, a Hitachi f1000a jointer/planer, and a carvewright cnc.
My next project will be a circular saw blade sharpener as I have about a dozen blades that need sharpening. I'll be looking at all and any design's I can find on this site and elsewhere on the web.
This looks like an interesting site and no doubt a bunch of knowledgeable members.
Well that's enough about me, pleased to join the forum.
