HF GANTRY CRANE MODIFIED FOR ROUGH/ UNEVEN TERRAIN

My work area is dirt or ice depending on the season. I modified my HF gantry crane to work in these conditions.

First I replaced the four inch steel casters for eight inch rubber casters. Then I added six inch extensions to the four corners and mounted four trailer jacks. Four spirit levels were attached to the posts so it can be made plumb, level and square.

I have since replaced the original 4.5 inch I beam with a 15 foot long 6 inch I beam so when not in use it straddles my carport...

This gives me an idea... a crane like this could do double duty as the frame for a porch/yard bench swing... that way the wifey would be directly benefiting from the purchase of yet another tool.

I'd probably mount 10" or 12" solid wheelbarrow size casters for navigating rougher ground... the adjustable outriggers are a must.
