Once I had a similar issue. It was my welder had to transport it short distances on the site and did not have the time or the patience to
tie it up with rope every time.
Solver it by fitting some over center clamps that clamped onto the wheels. You have nice space to add some brackets and clamps.
I think that might work for you as well. That piece of wood is definitely going be just the right size for another application at some stage
and I am too old to bend all that way down and lastly there is always the possibility of kicking it out by accident and that will be the one time you quikly ran into the workshop with your slippers on.
