    Hello from an old Firefighter

I joined so that I could get ideas and share the ones I have. I had a part time job at an engine balancing shop and a dyno tune shop as well as working part time at a gas station when I was in High School in 1964. After high school I went into the Navy and was an aircraft mechanic. When I got off active duty, since commercial airlines were not paying much for the skills I had attained, I took the test for the Seattle Fire Department and was hired as one of the first ten on the list.

As you can imagine, I have had a lot of experience in using tools and re-purposing tools for an unintended use. I'll have to look around my shop and take pictures of the tools I have modified or made.

    Hi tojon2,

    Welcome!

Sounds like a long, varied, and interesting career. We're looking forward to seeing some (or all!) of your homemade tools.

Please post any you'd like to share directly in the Homemade Tools subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.

Non-tool items are also of interest and should be posted in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.

    Ken
