Helicopter rescue basket spins uncontrollably - GIF

Helicopter rescue Stokes basket spins uncontrollably while rescuing a 74-year-old hiker yesterday in Arizona. Apparently this is a known but rare occurence during helicopter rescues.

Saw that on the local news last night...it must have been terrifying for the poor woman; dangerous too...that's some pretty extreme G-forces with that rate of spin.

All over the news here as well...apparently a cable broke, presumably that would keep it from spinning in the prop-wash. And she supposedly came out OK...hmmm

Exactly. When I 1st saw it, I was amazed the person wasn't spun right out of the basket. Pilot must've said "Give that gal a ride!"
