    Heavy duty Cape cloack closure

    Hi all
Just finished the cape closure, ("alamaro" in italian Language) because I built a Tabard.
Solid brass machined, milled and brazed. I build also the chain with brass wire.
I chose engine turning as finishing, although the appearence was very nice, it seemed too new for a very old cape, so I decided to give a vintage look.

This closure can be used with heavy coat, apron or something that weight a lot. My cape is more or less 3kg finished, only one point lock.

I like the effect of the 'vintage-ization'; really does make it look like an old, well-worn antique.

    Thank you!
I used oxy torch and iron dust, I tried by chance a couple of years ago, it seems working quite well for this purpose. After a little polishing with a 800grit sand paper, time and normal oxidation will do the job, I think.
That's my tabard, I still have to take some pictures worn. Wool is really good, a bit heavy, but warm and nice looking

    Il tabarro and the closure
First test today! Heavy and difficult to handle, incredibly warm and nice looking.
It's very difficult to go unnoticed!
