    It may just be for those in certain areas. When local government started replacing the incandescent bulbs in traffic lights with LED units, there were some problems with the lights getting so covered up with snow that it made intersections very hazardous. The solution was to put small heaters in the signals to help with visibility. This may be an extension of that.
    My equipment trailers have LED tail lights that always get covered with the dirt and slush from snow on the road. Going back to incandescent or considering these is on the list of things to do. Too many close calls.
