I've always been a wood butcher. When asked what kind of carpentry I do, I say: Rough carpentry. Very rough! Back when I was taking woodshop, I was too ADD, and we couldn't afford to get good wood, anyway. My "project" for my class was a 1/4" plywood cabinet with finger joints and 3" square pigeon hole compartments. My dad used it in his shop to sort screws in, and it was still in use the last time I was home, in 2008. I did salvage scraps of walnut and maple someone else had thrown away, and also made a 2"x12"x18" laminated cutting board that was also still in use. Don't have any idea what happened to the "cabinet" after that. He passed in 2014, and I wasn't able to go see him during his final illness, nor to his funeral.

Whew, that's a relief. Worried about being one of the few.
