For a lot of work nothing beats a hand wheel or a crank. So, I made a combo one.
The aluminum lock slides into the spindle and then locks with about a quarter turn of the wingnut. This is designed like a standard handlebar lock for a bicycle...at least the locks used when I was young.
The wheel and crank handle are stock items I bought from a hardware supplier, I think it was Enco. They've been merged with a sister company and all the low prices disappeared so I no longer buy from them.
It was almost entirely made on the lathe. The cuts were with a horizontal band saw and the flat area was a quick trip to the mill.
