If anyone tries this it would be a good idea to use an old carbon steel blade like in the video. Modern cheap carbide tipped saw blades are often made of poor quality steel that cannot be hardened. Test a small piece first if that’s all you’ve got.
Unless I missed something, this blade was annealed and hardened but not tempered. It is brittle, that’s why one side broke off. Repairing the break doesn’t do anything towards repairing the brittleness in the blade. The blade is likely to break. Notwithstanding this, you have done a nice job making this knife. You could save it by removing the handle and tempering it with a hand held torch.
