Guided Die Holder ! Let's make one !

I built a die holder with a guide: it is very easy, especially with large thread pitches, to start off wrong.

This then means that the die holder will stop and the thread will be wrong.

In particular with length over 2*diameter of screw; using the calibrated bushes for the thread diameters instead, the thread is performed correctly, the chip itself keeps the bush in place.

The sensation is that of turning a tool that embraces the piece, really beautiful !! I'm really happy with the result and it's a super addition to my workshop!!

thanks for your comment, i’m glad that you like my video: I modified an old project from H.Hall, I don’t know why nobody had make it before until now, maybe because you have to spent time to make it but it very useful;

and the final result will be perfect, because the die remain in the stuff axis during the movement;

and when the screw diameter start to be small, like M8 or M6 mm screws or less, it become difficult to make it with the lathe, if the screw is long, because as you touch the external screw diameter with the lathe tool, you will bend it very easily and so the same problem to make something tilt return!
