Hi everyone,
SO happy to find this site!
Lifelong tinkerer here (well, more like a lifelong dreamer who's narrowly escaped death by his own crazy schemes too many times--wait, that's a tinkerer, right?).
While I've always been handy (everyone in Vermont has to be a little handy) my experience lies more in history, philosophy and cooking than in woodworking or machining, so I'm here to learn more than share, though I'll do my best to contribute (happy to field any cooking or history questions, if anybody needs help with that! I did do a semester on ancient technology... if that's of use to anybody)
For the last few years I've been upping my game a bit, built myself a greenhouse of sorts, several tables and shelves and so forth. For the last few months I've been out of work, and so to keep myself (and my wife) sane, I've transformed my garage into a shop. I've been equipping it out of tools rescued from the dump, cleaning and repairing them, and I've found that I have a real love for it! Over the years I've had many interests, but never have I found something so perfect for me: so intellectually and physically demanding, so full of possibility!
Here's to many successful projects! (And successful escape from unsuccessful ones!)
