I've be a member for 1072 days, and haven't posted anything! I know this because I received an email from Ken - "We miss you on the HomemadeTools.net forums!". Guess we'd better change that!
By way of introduction, I'm a lifelong woodworker/do-it-yourself kind of guy! As a hobby I enjoy making woodworking projects, jigs, shop-made tools, etc. We have moved around quite a bit over the years, and I've always managed to convert my garage to a woodworking shop - at least a half dozen times now. We currently live in Deltona, Florida! I see one of the forum administrators lives nearby in Clermont, Florida!
In closing I would like to pass on a recent DYI Tip for repairing a broken vertical blind; the 3-1/2" wide, off-white blind with a small elongated hole in the top of the slate. Over time it's not uncommon for the bridle plastic to breakout near the edge of the hole! As luck would have it, the previous owner left several replacement slats - just not the length we needed! Not to worry, I would simply cut off the top of a shorter slat and glue it over the broken one. Problem was, I could not find any kind of glue, contact cement, super-glue, etc, that would bond the two surfaces. Note, one surface is relatively smooth, the mating surface is rough! And now for the Tip!
My solution was use Scotch Indoor double-sided Carpet Tape! It is used for Vinyl, Ceramic & Hardwood. It worked great! Instant fix - no waiting for the glue to dry! I use this tape for a lot in my shop for woodworking projects; never thought about using it for repairs!
I look forward to spending some quality time here in the HomeMadeTools.Net
