I have a friend that did that on a lathe. He can no longer flip a double bird.

Sure hope the person got his hand back. No gloves, no long sleeves, no long hair. I tie my beard back.

As usual carelessness and/or inattention. An act of nature are the only real 'accidents'.

My wife lost a fingertip in a steel rolling machine, at the time there were no gloves small enough for her and everyone had to wear gloved. Got the glove caught and the machine took just a bit too long to stop. They patched on skin from elsewhere and the finger is almost normal length now.

A friend of mine, jumped down of a lorry tail-lift and caught his wedding ring on the steelwork on the way down. Ripped his finger clean off.
