Had a friend of mine grumble about removing the magazine latch on Glock pistols, so I rolled out a tool for the job, told him to shut his gob and get 'er done.
Here's the tool, made up from a give-away screwdriver for a start point:
All I needed to do is file a notch in the side of the shaft, and then bend it hot, and temper it afterwards. Here's a look at the business end.
And lastly, a close up of the tip, showing how it's formed and shaped!
Using it is easy - push in the magazine release, and from the bottom of the mag well, slide the tip of the tool between the spring and frame while keeping pressure on the release. Next, push the mag release back and let the tool take the spring pressure. Finally, pull down on the handle while applying clockwise turning pressure on the handle, and - POP! The spring comes free of the mag release, and now the release or spring can be replaced.
It's so simple, even a GEICO gecko with a Ozzie accent can do it!
