Very handy if you are being attacked by a stack of cardboard boxes.

I saw, but can't find, a video of soldiers loading an Airzooka with a fart and sending it across a tent to an officer on the other side.

So, it's also good for finding yourself getting unpleasant duties.

in my line of work, air cannons are used to shake or dislodge buildup or stagnant flows in bins. If you had a large bin/silo full of grain/ore/particulate which was sticking to the walls of the bin, or not flowing through the bin due to a change in material properties (humidity, hardness, surface changes) then an air cannon acts a bit like a hammer on the side to shake the wall, and dislodge stagnant material.
