@ the ripe young age of 9 years I broke an arm while racing on a bicycle up hill when the handle bars came off, I can think of a few reasons why not to do this

Reverse steering as a result, turn left to turn right.

Not long ago, I saw a video where this fellow made a reverse steering bicycle to demonstrate human learning or adaptation - or some such experiment.

Other than, perhaps, the brainchild of someone with a devilish sense of humor and some time on their hands, I can only think the 'utility' of such a bike would be to deter theft... okay, if I were to make one, its REAL purpose would be to video would-be bike thieves via hidden camera!

You can accomplish a similar effect with a lot less work by installing the handlebar head turned 180 degrees. Try it but make sure your kid has a helmet, knee and elbow pads!!!! It makes the bike very difficult to ride.

About the only way reversing the stem riser changes anything on the handling of a bicycle is ,by doing so, places the bars some distance either away from or closer to the rider

    Frank,

You are assuming that only the stem riser was rotated. What if the effect was achieved by simply rotating the whole fork and stem. Then you change the trail drastically and so it would be very different to ride.
