Right rear wheel would become sluggish, car was steering a right hand bend. . . . .
Which begs the question why did it spin left when the blowout was on the right.

He was in a sweeping left turn. Also look at the steering wheel. Notice its position . . . he was turning slight left. Look at the arrow it shows curbing to the left. When the wheel toed out to the right it was pointing down the track. That steered the rear end to the right creating the over-steer to the left and into the wall. Replay the video at the slowest speed and you can clearly see the assembly toe out. The tire failed after that.

but looking closer the wheel alignment looks goot up to the point that the tyre deforms.
apparently there is an investigation underway with regards the tyres, it wast the only tyre incident. There were enough for the officials to start looking into it.

I came across a detail on how much an F1 car costs approx 12.2 million. that rear spoiler alone was somthing like 500,000 to replace, very expensive carbon fibre, must be full of electronics, sensors, actuators etc

The suprising one was 1700 for a set of tyres, hell anyone who owns a porch or lambo wont be paying far off that figure

I was wtching a youtube video of constructing nascar, i had no idea all the cars were built to the same design (unlike F1 Cars which have some variation between constructors). The showed the granite base used for setting up the cars alignment and heights just the same as we would for marking out. The rolling road simulator was sunk 10ft into the floor with huge hydraulic cylinders lifting the platform upto floor level, Ive seen smaller flight simulators. The cars during set up spend most of the time with no wheel fitted just clamped and bracketed to jigs (on the huge granite plate) This is some serious precison. I bet the same technology does not go into the tarmac/track, if i find it again i will post it.

Go back and look at the front tires in the first video.

The profile across the tread is different between right and left tires.

This is a normal assembly. Notice how close the tire rim is to a mechanical part.


Then there is a brief puff of smoke.


Compare to the top picture. The tire is still parallel to the alignment of the car but the entire assembly has moved 75-100 mm away from everything. The tire is still intact at this point!


Milliseconds later the tire assembly starts pointing to the right (as shown in another post) and the scrubbing destroys the tire. You need to single-step through the sequence or slow down the video to 25%. I am assuming the camera frame speed is either 24 or 32 FPS so one frame can only capture about .033 seconds. The destruction took place in 2 or 3 frames so a lot of information is missing. It is true that tire failures occurred 59 laps later on race worn and abused tires but Danny's tires only had 13 laps on them. I am hesitant to jump to the conclusion the tire is at fault in Danny's case.

They put grooves in the tires to slow the cars down. Fat chance.
