Forming A Hook For a Strap

I was faced with a choice. Would I go to my local Ace Hardware and buy a hook to go on some web type strap or would I spend far more effort to make it myself? Since I have already mastered the art of buying stuff at Ace, it seemed reasonable to attempt making the hook.

Congratulations rgsparber - your Hook Forming Tool is the Homemade Tool of the Week!

This is an ingenious and thoughtfully assembled tool that checks a lot of the boxes favored by homemade tool builders: uses another homemade tool in its creation, is used to create another homemade tool, and is built with scrap that was found - literally - on the side of the road.
