Build video:
In this video I make a roughly 2.3 kg (5 lbs) straight peen hammer from an old sledgehammer I believe that I found on scrapyard. At first I thought that the handle of that sledge was a welded piece of pipe but than I realized that it was just wood which burned away after first heat.
I used a drift to open the eye a bit more and I had to upset the front edge as it was badly damaged and very rough.
For the handle I used a piece of ash ( I think ) and made it into an octogonal shape which is very comfortable.
I used the hammer that I made in a previous video because I wanted to test it out, not because it was the best tool for the job. A bigger hammer would be more suitable but it worked and I was able to make a bigger hammer which is twice as heavy.
