    I have 1 of those retractable ladders didn't buy new was at pawn shop. thought it might be handy for the driver to carry on his truck the problem is he weighs 240+ the ladder is rated for 300 don't ever believe the data tags he had it extended only 3 rungs stepped up on it and it self retracted. SO much junk as far as I'm converned unless you ter out the puch pin locks and use real lynch pins

    Identical idea and about this size readily available all over. Mainly advertised as egress from 2/3 story homes on fire etc. Held from top, bottom extends by gravity, each telescope locks to that below. Very compact storage below a window. Guy in jacket collapses the ladder with latch in lower rungs.
    Used to be, escape ladders were rungs connected by chain, store by rolling them up. People had trouble getting footing due to the flexible nature, haven't seen one on a long time.

    Got one sitting out front right now waiting for the deck to get finished...Awkward at best and a pinch hazard in my book.
