    Occasional machinist's Tools

    Folding closed sections

For a future project, I wanted some triangular sheet metal sections. I have a finger brake folder, but needed some special tooling to do this job. It works, and the 'future project' is about half complete.

    Toolmaker51's Tools
A reliable shape for locating pins that need to disengage, often by hand, is bullet shaped. The lower portion remains cylindrical, and the 'point' easily shaped by a cordless drill and belt sander, in the case of hardened dowel pins.
The solution of a internal and removable forming 'die' is a great solution; if held to limits of pan brake gauge & width capacities.
