Fitting a new feed nut on a Bridgeport vise

I bought this Bridgeport vise a while back that was in need of some attention. I decided to tear it down and in the process, discovered the feed nut was worn. I was able to find something close, but not an exact match. I made an arbor and machined the replacement to fit.

The 'shortage' in threading or difference between Machinist Handbook specification and physical depth of cut is in both angle of compound and markings of the compound's dial. The travel indicator is only dependable return to zero. Knowing actual compound travel, equally important.
A simple remedy turns [external threads] or bores [internal threads] a diameter equivalent just less than minor diameter, and dye it, signaling approach to desired size. It's also worthwhile developing technique to solve the trigonometry before hand.

Angling the compound is part of compound feed. Going straight in, any compound angle is going to work.

You might have missed the part where I said I had a dial indicator on the tool post. I was NOT reading the depth of cut from the compound dial.
