Fishing tournament cheaters busted - video

Cheating tournament fishermen exposed for putting lead balls and fish fillets into fish to increase their weight. These guys have won hundreds of thousands of dollars in fishing competitions. A little more colorful than the recent cheating scandal in chess (though bizarrely similar in its proposed method of cheating), this video includes about a year's worth of profanity condensed into just over two minutes. 2:11 video:

This NYT article has an interesting rundown of the different ways that competitive fisherman can cheat:

Cheating in competitive fishing is more common than many people think, Mr. Robertson said. He listed the myriad ways people do so: They have friends deliver pre-caught fish to them; they fish in prohibited areas; they put fish in cages before the competition; they stuff them with ice, adding heft during the weigh-in that melts and leaves no evidence.

"You have to consider that in some of these tournaments, ounces can mean tens, or hundreds, of thousands of dollars," he said.

Those guys won't even be able to compete in a shad singeing competition after that.
No one in the world can get more redneck than a bunch of tournament fishermen when they find someone cheating

I used to have one of those wired into the door button on our front door. People got a kick out of ringing our doorbell.

At the fishing derby that used to be here I always brought a metal detector to have by the scale to discourage such behavior...
