Lantern vises don't get limelight they deserve, Captainleeward's use of such a device is a perfect example.
With a little planning, they can have a handle to grip, a shank for chucking in a lathe, flats for mill or bench vise etc. Facilitate indexing with flats in square or hex form. Even if the [your] frame is a little large, a smaller ID washer will bush the hole.......That's what Toolmaking is all about; evolving solutions.
Sincerely,
Toolmaker51

Congratulations Captainleeward - your Screw Holder is the Homemade Tool of the Week!
This was a very difficult week to win. In part because of the high volume of submitted tools, but mostly because of the large number of threads with numerous Thanks votes. However, lantern vises and lantern chucks are obviously a favorite around here.
Also of special note this week:
Multiple builds from thehomeengineer, including: Tool Height Setting Method, Internal Radius Cutting Method, and Lathe Bed Stop Modification (more below).
Two dividing tools: Mini Lathe Dividing Attachment by old_toolmaker and Rotary Table and Dividing Head by Nick Jonkman.
Two popular tools from jjr2001: Chuck Soft Jaws and Lathe Carriage Stop (more below). jjr2001 is also steadily working his way up the Top HomemadeTools.net Builders page.
A fan-favorite vise restoration thread, including Bench Vise Restoration by olderdan, and Woodworking Vise Restoration by Scotsman Hosie.
