[[SUB]
I have had in mind for some time to do this, and have prepared a few handles, from chair legs. (Which were either were irreparable or unsuitable for our clients)
I don’t like banging my fingers repeatedly against the vice or material!
Today I am rasping some oak, which has been cut into ship shapes - this is for a balancing game.
As well as a hole for the tang, the handle has another adjacent hole for a length of mild steel rod and tape goes round the tang. Hot melt glue at the other end hods the rod sufficiently well to stop it flapping about much.
It would be better to just weld a spot at the end, but I could not be bothered to get the welder from beneath the bench.
The mild steel was too weak, so I substituted a rod salvaged from a printer.
