The fastest highway in America ?

This may belong in the off-topic forum. I know of several sections of highways that have posted speed limits of 80MPH. and there may be a section still in Utah and Montana with no posted, but an advised of 80MPH as the max. However, there is a toll road in Central Texas with a 40- or 50-mile section withy an 85 MPH posted. I remember when much of the Autobahn in Germany had no speed limit now there are very few stretches that allow above 120KMH And I've driven on the road in Abu Dabi with its 140KMH (87MPH)
Don't drive this Texas road if you are worried about gas mileage.

The NMSL happened around the time i got my licence to drive. I was one of many drivers in the US that did not want to drive "55". I had a fast car and I was 16. Of course I broke the law and drove nearly three times the speed limit. I commuted between L.A. and Phoenix on Interstate 10, a very fast piece of asphalt. Finally in 1995 the law was repealed and it was legal to drive fast. For many years I loved it, most often driving 10 mph over the posted speed limit because the Highway Patrol didn't bother you. As I have aged, I like to drive at a lower speed. But I sure do love the high speed limits...

I've driven this a few times; it's a big stretch of nothing out there, but at least you avoid the ever present highway traffic jamb through central Austin. And yes, the speed has been opened up to the overdrive gearing of most modern cars.
