Well, that is large in height, but I've seen much larger.

These folks (Nippon Chemi-con) have a super capacitor that is 2.8v 3150F (that is not a type, that is 3,150 Farads) and it is 63.5mm diameter and 172mm tall (~2.5" x 6.75")

Not to be outdone, Chemi-con has a 10,000uF 500v electrolytic cap which is a whopping 89mm x 270mm (3.5" x 10.6") which is much bigger than the one shown above. And even bigger, they have a 29,000uF 450v which is 100mm x 270mm (3.94" x 10.6"). Both of these are in production, but I don't know of any stock in the US...

OK, did a little more digging and the U36D series seems to have been superceeded by the U37F series...

OK, found a price and stock on the 12,000uF 500v U37F cap (89mm x 219mm). Master shows a price with stock of $135 each and Mouser shows non-stocked but a price of $110.

Hey Mike, did you remember to discharge the cap? IDK, let me check. *Pop*. Hey Mike. Mike? Anybody seen Mike? He left his boots here.

I used to keep a dozen or so, automotive ign, condensers, 'Remember those things that were inside of the distributors next to the points, OH um, those are gone now too.' Anyway, I would load them up with the spark from the coil wire bend the condenser wire around until it was close to the body of the condenser and place them strategically in all of my desk drawers. I would immediately when someone was meddling in my desk where they shouldn't have been.
