Ive done some hydro forming hear on my aircooled vw oil pump pickup tubes, great way to get the final desired shape for much better flow and less restrictions.. my
car has hydro formed frame, along with the body panels are also hydro formed.
I learned about it 25 years ago at a prototype machine shop, I didnt do any there but it was explaned to me. then I went to the corvete place up in kentuckey where they showed them making the frame rails,20 years pass and the car I have now has them... as for my vw stuff. the pickup tubes are restrictive with isant good and can induce cavatation, so i machined a jig and I hydro form the new pickup tubes for a much beter shape and flow.

Used to do an explosive forming activity in my Industrial Technology classes. Until we had to stop because they would not allow .22 caliber blanks at school.

That is a proper visualization. Normal blow molding is smaller items like milk containers, but real hard to expel sufficient air fast enough in tougher material.
