How are you controlling arc current output? or is it just a one heat setting, and you have what you have. A lot of welders like yours have Mutiple taps on the secondary windings by winding more than a single secondary. I tore one apart once that had as many as 8 sets of windings for the secondary using 1/8" square enameled wire and another that controlled the current by adding or deducing the amount of steel in the core by pulling a large chunk of it away from the center
