I heard it may be there longer than expected. Now I can see why.

They are going to need a longer stick on that excavator!!!! There is A LOT of ship not showing, wedged in the dirt.

American military have said they are on standby with equipment just waiting to hear from the Egyptian government and apparently several other countries have offered help as well. Considering the international ramifications of a blockage here if I was the Egyptian Prime Minister I would be asking for help from the international community.

Sure is! A ship this size could draw 35' to 40' of draft. A better approach would bring a dredge alongside. They come in all sizes, including portable units used in farm ponds.

If they could round up 10 million horsepower on each side and cable each end to pull it straight. I am just full of all kinds of brilliant ideas , but apparently they don’t need my help since they haven’t called.

Wonder what that steel cable draped on the ship bow just above the water line is? Leftover remnant from some work long past? A bit much to small to be of much help now.

Excellent idea, running a cable over the bulb on the bow. That way there's ZERO chance of the ship suddenly breaking free, rotating on its axis thus getting jammed in the REVERSE angle. My experience in such issues is minimal (read ZERO) but as a suggestion, perhaps a coffer dam built a quarter mile away in either direction might work. Pump water into the contained area would raise the ship allowing it to be realigned with the canal. OR - get ANOTHER excavator.
