    Kind of misleading in some ways. The large windmills that are pretty common now are in the 400 to 500 kilowatt range. The wire required to conduct that much electricity even at high voltages is larger than that tether on that kite. Not so sure I believe all the hype. Work to produce electricity, sure. In the range of the big boys. Not convinced.

    So they get more transmission losses from generator to ground. They’re still generating power without burning fossil fuels. And as the kite flies far higher than a windmill, there would be far less noise pollution.

    If the wind should stop while it is extended on the tether does it make an emergency landing or simply crash dive?

    Probably a computer back feeds electricity to 2 of the generators turning them into motors so the thing can be reeled in under power instead of crashing it.
