What's so neat about it is the complexity of it makes it so simple. The drum has a cord attached to it wind the drum 1 round while attaching the rubber bands over the winding cord until the stringers are all full a little electric motor winds the winch spool while rotating the drum the cord pulls each rubber band off the pin as it rotates the drum

Our 6th grade teacher always wore a suit but it was no armour against our home made darts. He received one right in the back side. the whole class got detention & to this day I don't know who the culprit was. Very funny...........now! The darts were banned from the school grounds: can't understand why as with a needle as the point they would stick in hardwood rafters in the eating areas:the flights were paper folded so had 4 instead of the usual three. really dangerous.
That rubber band gun would have been much better.
California thinks they are the leaders of the world because they banned plastic drinking straws. What they don't know is the school I attended banned drinking straws in 1968 due to spit wad wars. Didn't stop us though because along about that time a little company named Bic started making or at least we started seeing them in stores a ball point pen that all you had to do was pull the end out with the ink tube attached and you had the perfect spit wad gun. albeit a tad smaller than the paper soda straws they made great blow guns for kitchen matches as well and a glancing hit would strike them for an added thrill. Bonus points for setting the stack of test papers on fire a top the teacher's desk.
