I really like the idea. I think that the design, as shown, is very good. You just need to adapt it to the materials you have on hand or you can get easily. It is difficult to make plans for something like this as the design evolves over time according to the materials and fabrication capabilities access to.
I am trying to think of a way to make an electric one. Only have 2 chain saws, one a Husqvarna too large for that and a pole pruner that is too useful in its current format.
I an envisioning 12V electric, mounted on a trailer to haul the cut pieces. Powered from a battery kept charged by the tractor. . Maybe get a junk chainsaw, for the bar oiler, replace the crank with a straight bar to attach to a motor, etc. Still in the brainstorming phase.
But YES there is A LOT of heat in 1-2 inch branches. I typically mulch them but hate to waste that wood, then spend time splitting big pieces down to 2 inch size. Seems silly.
Adding a thought. I could just get an electric chain saw to put on that.
