Some of my thoughts on depth stops...

Experience is always far worse than pessimism
One of the quickest modifications I made to my drill press depth stop is a flat washer with the hole filed to fit the flats on the threaded adjustment rod. This washer goes between the adjusting nuts. It keeps the first nut from turning when you snug second nut against it. Such a simple addition, but in 60+ years have been around tools with my dad, grandpa, various work places, school, etc, I can remember only one drill press that had it. Which is where I got my idea.
You might want to add one between those nice inertia nuts.
