For gosh sakes, take those gloves OFF and toss them in the trash before you lose a finger or three.

NEVER wear gloves around machine tools. NEVER!

My wife can attest to that. You have to look closely to see the repairs.

I thank you for your effort but see some flaws. The holder (altogether) is too “spindly”! And there is no guide to hold the bit being sharpened to the exact way that the opposite side was sharpened. The user just turned the bit “by eye” to sharpen the other flute. Sorry but no raisin pie for you.

anyone caught grinding on the side of any of my bench grinders gets to buy me a new rock even if they don't grind long enough to do any damage unless it is a cupped grinding rock made for axial grinding. I was privileged to buy 3" by 18" rock when I first started out before I was even a teenager. I was grinding on the side of the rock when the plow shear caught and wedged 10 HP arbor grinders get ugly real fast. nothing against those who do it is just my policy. I also grind using the full face to the rock because I like even wear, groves worn in the rocks
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

My shop instructor also stated no grinding on the sides.

I don't see the relief behind the cutting edge. The back side of the cutting edge must have this relief, and I just didn't see it?

Why not just learn how to do it by hand and stop wasting your time building that crap.
