    That is how large dragline excavators moved back when they and strip mines were prevalent. What's not seen in the video is the bulldozers dragging the huge power cable that runs this thing.

    They can turn as well by rotating the body on the main pad while the feet are raised or back up by rotating the shaft that moves the feet in reverse. In some ways just as maneuverable as a tracked machine. They are even more maneuverable when it comes to making a 90 degree turn

    I saw this on Reddit a while back and simply love it.
    The curtains are sucha homey touch, the rust, the various colors of paint, the chains on the feet.
    It is a marvel of design and engineering that just fascinates me.
