Eat those if you must; I prefer product from the panaderia.
First off, they bake, not deep fry. Not mushy grease, firm toothy baked goods.
Second, portions are large, tasty and satisfying.
Third, seemingly endless variety.
Fourth, they have decent shelf life.
Fifth, no thrill in a boring doughnut shop compared to getting out of your comfort zone, into a vibrant Hispanic market or bakery.
Sixth, interesting history, and based loosely on French pastries. Fostered by Porfirio Diaz of Mexico, a Francophile, thus harbored some Continental tastes. Not much else though, he did was beneficial.
