Another fine example of a crane operator not knowing beans about his equipment. Crane boom extended way further than required and crane parked too far form the load for the size of the crane

The boom became a lever and rolled him right over.

Think about WHEN that structure was built. They did not have all the fancy stuff to put it up there. But then a higher percentage of people actually knew how to do hard things back then.

A lot of concrete roofs in the area of the Caribbean where I have done some mission work. People with some money typically have concrete. Those with a lot of money might have clay tile roofs People with a little money might have a tin roof. Others make due with a proper thatched roof. Those further down the list will use a few layers of palm fronds, rusty discarded perhaps covered with a plastic tarp if they can find pieces of one. Or maybe even the woven plastic sacks that grain is shipped in. The hot sun and salty air quickly degrade tin and plastic. Thatched roofs are not really very healthy as they begin to rot as soon as they are put up. They also provide homes for kinds of pests; rodents, bugs, lizards, and worst of all mold. Kids living under thatched roofs are typically not as healthy as those under tin or concrete. Of course poor health may be also be an indicator of poor diet for the same reason they are not living under a better roof.

Everything is connected in one way or another.

This reminds me of that thread on HMT a while ago where those huge plastic bags were pierced to empty them. Those bags would be highly prized down there!! Have to see if I can find that thread again...
