    Deburring Electric Metallic Tubing (EMT)

If you are running a lot of ½ inch conduit (EMT), removing all burrs can get tedious. Yet, one burr can cause the insulation to be cut and ultimately cause a fire.

I propose using a step drill to deburr the inside of the EMT effectively. A flat file is still used on the outside.

I use a cone drill rather than a stepped cutter when deburring tubing, and an internal/external deburrer on the outside.

I chose a step drill because that is what I had on hand. In hindsight, I think a cone drill is more likely to leave a sharp end if the user goes in too far.

Can you say more about the “internal/external deburrer?” Is it like the one I show on page 2?

    Thanks,

    I use one of these:

    There is also this:

    Deburring Electric Metallic Tubing (EMT)-kleinpowerreamer.jpg

    https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/p...conduit-reamer

which I think I will have to pick for when I have to a bunch of ends.

What I like about these is that it gets the inside and outside at the same time, I can do multiple sizes of EMT, and I don't have to think about drill sizes.
