Cutting a 127mm diameter chamfer with a 12mm radius toolpath.

This trick uses the inside of the 6" face mill inserts to cut a true large 45 degree chamfer around the perimeter of a 5" bar end. This is a big timesaver on a cnc saving a toolchange and the toolpath using a small chamfering cutter of around 400mm to one less than 40mm.

That's smart use of the tool right there. This is an example of a hand-coded CNC program knocking probably 30+ seconds off the cycle time. I don't know of any CAM packages that are anywhere near this intelligent. In fact, most of them act like they were dropped on their head.

However... adaptive toolpath was a revolution in machining and it's impossible for a human to write that by hand.
