Time and place. I regret not a moment of the fun but sure wish I had been smarter and avoided the injuries. I'm a big fan of apprenticeships.
It may be because I am now an elder but not a smarter and only marginally wiser person that I harp on with hindsight. You may have been blessed with common sense at birth but alas I was not.
I couldn't say that I had a lot of common sense when I was very young, but I was always told you can play all you want but you are the one who has to pay. You break it you fix it, if it costs money, you pay it. While I liked to play, I hated the pay part. I broke my arm while racing uphill on a bicycle in the 3rd grade the Pay? having to wear a cast for a couple months plus since I had foolishly admitting I was racing while riding my cousin's new bike I had to fix it plus to drive their point home my dad & mom made me work off the expense of the trips to the DR. and the cost of the cast.
You play, you pay was their rule no matter what. However that still didn't stop me from grenadeing several engines and transmissions and demolishing a few motorcycles and cars before I figured out it was costing me more than the fun I was getting out of it.
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products
As you raise kids, it is important to let them fail. It is the failures that we learn from. It is difficult to let your kids do something where there is a good chance they will be hurt, BUT, you have to let them. You can say things like, that is not a good idea. After a few injuries, they will learn.
