So true but thinkin the cows just not happy with a tube/plug inserted....and when he/she scrubs up against an electric fence or even barb wire....might not be good.
If it get too full and creates too much back pressure...do cows burp?

This is a steer which has undergone a surgery to create a permanent opening into its rumen. It has been outfitted with an apparatus to collect gases released in the process of digestion. The types and quantities of gases produced by differing diets can be studied. Feed additives can and have been developed to reduce gas production.

    Cattle do burp

I wonder where the 26% number of US methane production comes from. PettA??? (People Eating Tasty Animals)

I wonder how many millions of wasted gov grant dollars are wasted on this research project?

Unfortunately Frank, it isn't Fake News. It didn't start in CA though but the law went into effect a couple of years ago. When they cut all the trees down in South America to raise cattle was when it started with the loss of oxygen from the trees and forests. Once the huge cattle ranches started, scientist noticed a large hole in the ozone layer over South America a decade later and began investigating...turns out methane was the cause plus the loss of all that oxygen from photosynthesis from the forests...not CO2 emissions. On and On it went spending duckets over duckets, YOY until they figured out the cows were a big part of the cause and Obama jumped on the bandwagon for a 2020 reduction goal. And still; How much does beef cost!

This pic is from news postings that originated from an Argentina group INTA (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria) that started this project. Here are a couple of links.

This one is interesting and I have a feeling it was funded by the Mystery 20-40 cents a gallon gas tax that no one seems to know where it came from or where the money has gone over the years but it is Considerable Duckets Worth
