Countersink tool with an adjustable integral depth stop

    Hi All

This is my homemade countersink tool with an adjustable integral depth stop that doesn't mark the work piece on a No. 2 Morse taper. In my opinion there is nothing worse than seeing countersinks all different sizes on a component. I designed this so I could set the tool up and not have to faff around with the depth stops on the machine. Using depth stops is not a problem if all the holes are on the same plain, but as you will see from the video this really quickens up production and more importantly to me maintains the same size countersink on the components when they are not.

Any chance to get some extra photos/engineering on this tool? I'd love a chance to make my own, especially now that my lathe is up and running!

You have the same opinion than me about the regularity of countersink, when I was an apprentice, it was a very serious action, like shaping corners with the file, I remember we do make a mark for the precision of the angle cutting value.

It's brilliant. While a similar device is used in hand held drill motors (super typical in aircraft assembly), equally, if not more sensible in a quill machine. The demonstration proves it, used in widely different Z position.
Hand held version has micrometer-like graduations on a threaded barrel to control cylinder of depth stop.

No excuse how I've missed this since 2018. . .
