First time for me using conversion gears for metric threads on my South Bend, set it all up and checked the thread pitch, looking good.
Returning the tool too start point by pulling the c/shaft pulley round by hand soon evaporated my enthusiasm, I should have thought it through before I started.
Can't make something now as I am all set up so scrabble around the workshop looking for anything that could be a winding handle, finally found parts of a wiper mechanism that looked promising, all I had to do was remove the ball joint and replace it with a mounting bolt, a piece of plastic tube for a handle and place it in my c/shaft drill chuck that I use for cleaning and burnishing threads.
It worked so well that I have cleaned up the second one and made a proper handle for it, in use it only took a few seconds to wind back to start point and is well out of harms way when turning. Useful for backing out taps also.
